SRC Celebrates 20 Members of Tomorrow’s Workforce
The SRC family of businesses continued its longstanding tradition this summer of hosting a comprehensive internship program. The program, which kicked off in June 2024, aims to give future workforce members invaluable on-the-job experience.
By working in multiple roles across SRC's ten businesses, interns explored future career pathways while learning from mentors inside the company. They also had a chance to experience firsthand the bedrock of SRC’s culture, the Great Game of Business, which promotes financial transparency and business literacy throughout the company.
To thank and celebrate the work done by this year’s cohort of 20 interns, SRC hosted a networking luncheon on August 8, 2024. Each intern delivered a three-minute presentation about what they had worked on over the summer, what they had learned, and the critical insights they would take with them as they returned to college or started their careers.
The breadth of the work tackled by the interns over the summer was impressive. Presentations covered various projects, including conducting critical system audits, performing competitive research, revamping supply chains, researching and suggesting safety process improvements, and developing a recovery plan to offset the outages created by the recent Crowdstrike update.
“Today was an inspiring day, and it gives me faith in the future to see all that you have accomplished in such a short time,” said Krisi Schell, the Executive Vice President of HR at SRC Holdings. “It also proves the incredible value that interns can bring to an organization. Every one of you had an impact on our employee-owned company.”
In their presentations and during a Q&A session with the SRC associates who attended the luncheon, the interns collectively shared their appreciation for SRC’s culture—particularly aspects of the Great Game of Business. Several interns mentioned that they brought the practice of playing short-term incentive programs, called “MiniGames,” home with them into their personal lives.
“When you go to work and participate in something greater than you as an individual, it’s incredible what you can do,” said Jack Stack, President and CEO of SRC Holdings.
The entire SRC family thanks the 2024 internship class for their hard work and contributions and remains eager to remain in touch with each of them as they continue their education or pursue the next steps in their careers.
