SRC Associates Receive Excellence in Community Service Awards, Missouri Head Start

The employee-owners of SRC received the 2023 Excellence in Community Service and Head Start Hero Awards from the Missouri Head Start Association at an awards luncheon in Jefferson City, Missouri, on May 11, 2023.

The awards are presented to organizations for their innovative community service to Head Start and for excellence in addressing issues of poverty, early education, or community health. The awards are given to organizations that have made a positive impact on children, families, and the community through contributions of time and effort.

Since the partnership with OACAC Head Start was formed 20 years ago by an SRC employee-owner, associates have participated in an annual tradition of giving during the holidays to provide clothing, shoes, and toys to children participating in the Head Start program at the West Chestnut Center in Springfield, Missouri. In 2018, SRC associates at SRC Heavy Duty and SRC Automotive began an additional annual drive for back-to-school supplies for the students, teachers, and center.

For the past 8 years, Jim Cody, EHS Manager at SRC Heavy Duty, has led this collaborative initiative with associates across the SRC Family of Companies.

“It has been my honor to coordinate these events to ensure OACAC West Chestnut Head Start program continues to be an exciting time for all our SRC facilities,” said Jim Cody, “Whether it be holiday events, back to school supplies, or playground equipment, it is a reminder to give whatever it takes to support our local community. We are looking forward to the next 20 years.”
