GOCAPS Work Space at SRC Provides Career Immersion for Students

The Nontraditional Classroom

Students enrolled in the Engineering and Manufacturing sector of the Greater Ozarks Centers for Advanced Professional Studies (GOCAPS) are taking their education to an entirely new level: the production floor. The team at Springfield Remanufacturing Corporation's west facility have created an interactive learning space for the students to work in, right in the heart of the shop floor.

The work space gives students the opportunity to interact with and learn by example from SRC associates. Additionally, students are able to apply their knowledge and skills to real-world problem solving. GOCAPS student Grant Rockefeller, senior at Nixa High School, shared what this opportunity means to him, "It's fun to be out there and actually getting hands-on experience. We've learned a lot in the classroom and now were seeing how it all works."

Visit the GOCAPS website for more information and how to enroll in the program.
